We work on liquid damaged iPhones all day long and believe it or not this happens all the time. Just read this whole posting and even if your current iPhone can't be saved you'll at least know what to do next time.

If your water sensors are RED your warranty with Apple is voided and if you bring it to the Apple Store your only option would be to purchase a new iPhone. If you're reading this your water sensors are already tripped RED so letting us run it through our highly successful process has no down side

  • THE PICTURES BELOW SHOWS AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER'S iPHONE MAIN BOARD WITHIN 30 SECONDS OF TURNING IT BACK ON AFTER IT'S BEEN UNDER 4" OF WATER FOR APROX 10 SECONDS, THEN A SMALL PART OF OUR CLEANING PROCESS, AND THE FINISHED RECOVERED MAINBOARD !!

If we can't fix it, you pay nothing beyond the diagnostic fee !! See Below for details

THE 5-STEP PROCESS

We use a 5-step process including 3 different manufacturing chemical rinses to 'wash' away all mineral deposits from inside the phone and all substrate surfaces. We'll know by step 2 if your phone can be recovered. We need the phone for 1 business day to complete the first 2 steps, so we ask that you leave the phone with us for 24 hours to start with.

INSPECTION & ESTIMATE

We'll inspect and estimate the repair first as part of the initial diagnostic. If you decide not to have us fix it, at least you'll know exactly what's wrong with it when we're done..... It wouldn't make any sense not to !

*** WARNING ***

If your iPhone has been water damaged DO NOT attempt to turn it back on !!! This will usually cause more damage to your iPhone. Even if the iPhone seems to be working normally the metal connection points on your logicboard are already corroding and it's just a matter of time before the phone can never be saved.

One nice thing about an iPhone is that if it hits water it will usually immediately shut off. Most people make the horrible mistake of trying to turn it back on to see if it still works. The normal protection that would shut it off doesn't work until the phone is booted so the entire time it's booting (or trying to) it's basically frying itself. The issue is that most all water has minerals (salts) in it. These minerals (salts) remain when the water is dried off normally, and these minerals are conductive. They will short out your iphones sensitive electronics. Trying to operate our phone will pass small amounts of electricity through any water on the electronics and cook off the water leaving even more concentrated mineral deposits on the electronics.

*** WARNING ***

Don't go to your buddy who just happens to know how to open these phones up or thinks he can figure it out. In 90% of the cases if you submerge your iPhone in more than 1 inche of water for even a few seconds your iPhone is just 1 step away from becoming a total brick or door stop. We see horror stories every day of people who opened their phone up somehow and made things so much worse. First of all there's almost no chance you have the correct tools so that you don't leave massive marks all over the case, then after that if you do get it open do you have any clue what needs to be done ? We use a 5 step multi-chemical process to properly remove all mineral deposits and rinse the system board and micro electronics. The same basic chemical finishing method used originally at the factory. Then we address the electronics and repair the commonly damaged components.

  • DO NOT try and turn the phone on trying to see if it will work again... this just dead shorts the main board in 90% of the cases since some liquid is still in there.
  • DO NOT stick it in a bag of rice, you'll just get rice dust in every area inside the phone and turns to conductive starch after time.
  • DO NOT use a blow dryer, this will only further reduce any water deposits to mineral deposits which are conductive , and corrosion is already happening at this point anyway !!!!
  • DO NOT set it in the sun hoping it will magically dry out, this is just like the blow dryer.... and corrosion is already happening at this point anyway !!!
  • DO NOT try to ' shake out ' the water by roughly shaking the phone, this will only further spread water around the inside of the phone
  • DO NOT attempt to open the phone up unless you're a qualified repair tech, there is nothing a non-tech can do inside an iphone but further damage it
  • DO NOT stick it in distilled water, no distilled water you can buy at a grocery store is pure enough. Grocery store distilled water IS CONDUCTIVE !!
    * Also unless you know exactly what you're doing any exposure to anything else, including air will immediately contaminate any pure water rinse you try and make.
  • DO NOT hope that some voodoo magic will happen and you're phone will magically recover from being wet and having mineral deposits inside all by itself !
  • DO NOT hope that some voodoo magic will happen and corrosion will magically stop happening on all the metal electrical parts inside the phone...

Get it to us asap and there's a very good chance we can save it !!

This is what your Logicboard will look like after brief exposure to water / liquid , the rest of the phone will also have damage like this.

The Logicboard in the above picture is from an iPhone 3G that was dropped in a toilet for just a few seconds and brought to us a few days later.
